"Indulge your imagination in every possible flight" Jane Austen , Pride & Prejudice
To celebrate the Bicentenary of the wonderful English Author Jane Austen, Riversdale Estate hosted two interesting and successful "Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice" High Teas, which were enjoyed by all one sunny Sunday in June, at the beautiful Orangery.
Local and Interstate guests indulged in the decadent and specifically themed High Teas that were preceded by short lectures given by Dr Lisa Fletcher.
Dr Lisa Fletcher is the Deputy Head of the School of Humanities and Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Tasmania. Her research interests include, among other things, popular fiction (expecially romance fiction) and nineteenth century illustration. Her book "Historical Romance Fiction", in which she examines authors from Georgette Heyer to A.S. Byatt, is one of the most influential academic books in popular romance studies.
Dr Edwards presented many interesting historical and cultural facts, plus readings from Pride & Prejudice.Guests were kept enthralled and expected Mr Darcy to make an appearance!
The 3 stand curates were then offered to guests, and were brimming with treats from the Austen period like trifle, cheesecake, mini Pride & Prejudice edible chocolate cake volumes.
Riversdale Estate will be hosting another two Jane Austen High Teas in June 2018, and we are taking bookings now for the sittings, so email us on email@example.com to reserve your seats.
